Model of the layout at scale 1/5th

Maquette_01

The model is at the 1/5th scale.
Its dimentions are 820 x 720 mm.
The tracks are printed from Raily 4 and glued on
1 mm thick cardboard.
The structures are made from the same cardboard and painted with acrylic paints.
The Landscape was made from extruded polystyrene foam, sculpted with a cutter and sanded, then painted with acrylic paints.

Note that this model does not anymore match the actual track plan. It was made between 2004 and 2007 and thus represent the project as it was at the time.

Nevertheless, even in this state, this model helped me a lot in, for example, the drawing of the profiles defining the landscape of the mine.

Maquette_02

The model seen from the other side.

The areas painted in black are the access lanes.

Maquette_03

Detail of the river, the sawmill and of several bridges.

Note that the single track line at the extreme right is now a double track line.
(Exit from the main station toward the Helix)

Maquette_04

Detail of the Engine Facilities and the Main Station.

Note the retaining wall with arcades that will go along the engine facilities to retain the terrain hosting the tracks leading to the mine.
